Emma B.

Trained by CAPPA and ProDoula

Emma (she/her), is a CAPPA and ProDoula trained birth doula and a scientist at heart. Prior to becoming a doula, she spent a decade as a forest ecologist. She studied tree growth, forest ecosystem dynamics, and environmental change across North America. Then she had babies, became enamored with birth, and now surrounds herself with growth and development in humans instead!

As a recovering academic, Emma maintains a good dose of science in her doula work and seeks to provide families with informational support that is rooted in evidence and practice. Emma is also acutely aware of the emotional and spiritual sides of pregnancy, labor, and birth, and the amazing transformations that happen throughout. She spent her pregnancies reading all the birth books, watching lectures, devouring every resource at her fingertips, and left each birth experience feeling incredibly strong and empowered, and moved by the magic that is birth. As a doula, Emma strives to provide an inclusive environment free of judgement, wherein each birthing person feels secure, respected, and uplifted in their choices.

Emma loves living in Chicago and is overjoyed to be serving the pregnant people and growing families of her home city. On any given day you can find her biking along the river, visiting all the neighborhood parks, playing tennis, reading, and cuddling her humans and 4 backyard chickens.
